Tom McDonald served 30-years with the Los Angeles Police Department. His assignments included Patrol in Hollywood Division and in South Central Los Angeles, as a member of a Special Problems Unit, a Gang Enforcement Unit, and as a Field Training Officer. Tom was selected to serve on LAPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT). As an element member Tom was assigned as a Scout on an entry team, as a SWAT sniper, and as a Hostage Negotiator. During this period, LAPD SWAT trained extensively with numerous local SWAT teams, the FBI’s enhanced Los Angeles SWAT team as well as the Bureau’s Hostage Rescue Team, and many US military and international Tier-1 teams.

After retiring from the LAPD in 2013 as a Captain Tom served as the Chief of Police for the City of West Sacramento until he left active service altogether in December of 2019.

Tom is Certified National Rifle Association and Northern Firearms Pistol, CCW Instructor; a California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) certified firearms instructor, Thunder Ranch, Inc. Staff Instructor, and an Adjunct Instructor for the California Specialized Training Institute.

Cancellation Policy: Training fees include a 50% non-refundable deposit. Cancellations prior to the start of the class will be given a 50% refund of training fees, or a one-time reschedule of training within one year.
