Welcome to Northern Firearms Instruction. We are serious about teaching EXCELLENT NRA INSTRUCTORS! This course will not be a “Check the box” type course that unfortunately can be found in our industry. You will be expected to communicate and collaborate electronically, present concepts professionally, and represent the NRA with an excellence that is worthy of the name.
Instructor Candidates will be training with the NFI Chief Instructor, Retired US Army Command Sergeant Major Retired Ted Lidie. Ted’s experience includes NRA Multi-Disciplined Training Counselor, US Army Light Weapons Instructor, GLOCK Certified Armorer, and Instructor Development Course Graduate, USCCA Instructor, California DOJ Certified Firearms Instructor, and approved CCW Instructor in 35 counties in the State of California. Ted has 35 years of firearms training experience.
YOU WILL NOT NEED ANY AMMO OR PISTOLS FOR THIS COURSE. ALTHOUGH THERE IS A MARKSMANSHIP REQUIREMENT –SO WE DO RECCOMEND YOUR OWN PISTOL IF IT MAKES YOU MORE COMFORTABLE. If you want to use your own pistol you can use our ammo.22LR only. Our pistols will be zeroed correctly before the course. We will use 22LR pistols to complete this course.
The course will be taught at the Placer Sporting Club, 2001 Opportunity Dr, Roseville, CA 95678.
This is a three-day experience that includes:
6/25/21 9:00 AM-5:00 PM NRA Basic Instructor Training. Bring something to write with and an entire packing list for the weekend.
6/26/21 9:00 AM-5:00 PM NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course. This is a requirement for the NRA Pistol Instructor Course.
6/27/21 9:00 Am-5:00 PM. NRA Pistol Instructor Course.
This is a shooting course and therefore on 6/26 and 6/27, we will have extensive range training. You will be required to shoot a 9-inch circle at 15 yards 16/20 times to qualify as an NRA Instructor!
Another very important part of this course is your presentation to the class. We will be using the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting curriculum as our presentation subject. You will be taught to become comfortable in speaking in front of others, as well as how to become an expert in the subject matter.

Daily Dress: Professional instructors look professional. Jeans, shorts, or tac pants and a collared shirt are the standard in our industry.
