This course is taught by NFI Instructor Paul Robins plus a team of three additional NRA/DOJ certified instructors. Paul is a college professor who has also been an instructor at Front Sight Training Institute. He is currently an NRA Certified CCW Instructor and California DOJ CCW Instructor. Come benefit from his extensive classroom and range experience.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This 7-Hour Step III Advanced Defensive Pistol class focuses on real-world skills needed for personal protection. It is designed for people who have completed the Step II Defensive Pistol Class and are ready for more challenging self defense training. Unless you already have significant experience drawing and shooting from the holster, previous attendance in the Step II class is required. If you have not taken that class but believe that you have sufficient training to participate in this Step III class, please speak with the instructor before registering for the class.
The Step III Class begins with a review of Safety, followed by dry and live fire review of principles from our Step II Class: Drawing from Holster, Malfunctions, Reloads, etc. Following the safe and proficient demonstration of these basic skills, students move on to more advanced drills: Threat Assessment & Sight Pictures, Close Proximity Shooting with Movement, Alternate Shooting Positions (Kneeling & Prone), Introduction to Barricades, etc. The Step III Advanced Defensive Pistol Class ends with a special challenge, shooting over, through and under the “Wilson Wall.”
Students must bring an outside the waistband holster, worn on the hip (see description below).
This is a 7-hour course from 8:30AM to 3:30PM. We will have a working lunch on the range, so pack your lunch, liquids and a snack.
Please download, print, complete and bring to class the attached waivers:
